New Again

It’s time again for the Beautiful Beasties international pet photographer blog circle.  ”Something New” is our theme this week.

I drove up to the Cowichan Valley to visit the beautiful SPCA facility near Duncan to take some photographs of their adoptable dogs and cats. As a member of HeARTs Speak I proudly donate my services to helping animals attract their new person or family.  Some lucky people are going to enjoy the future company of these beautiful beasties!  Some of the cats come with over 8 years of experience being cute and cuddly, and these dogs will melt your heart. If you’re in the market for a new fur baby contact them directly at the Cowichan and District Branch.

Next up is the very talented Sue Collura Studio, Massachusetts.

What a great idea and beautiful portraits!

These are great! Such pretty pets – I hope they find their new families soon!

Darci - May 17, 2013 - 6:16 am

Awww, I hope they all find homes really soon. The white kitty with blue eyes is so pretty and I love that the pups all look like they are smiling. So cute!

April Showers…

… bring May flowers.  That’s the theme this week on the Beautiful Beasties international pet photographer blog circle and it’s starring me, Maddie!  Here’s me under the Quince bush where the petals are already starting to drop. Aren’t I pretty?

OMG – the quince petals go PERFECTLY with Maddie’s coloring – and on the green grass, too! Great shot!

There is nothing like the colour of quince blossoms…

Spotlight

Our Beautiful Beasties blog circle theme this week is Spotlight. I took my model of the month, Buddy (who also celebrates his Gotcha day today!!), and my small reflector on location to one of Victoria’s national historic sites, Fort Rodd Hill. We only got as far as the parking lot because it’s not pet friendly but you get a hint of what’s there in the background. The effect of the small reflector bouncing the sun onto his face looks a bit like off camera fill flash, but really it’s low-tech. This image was in my blooper pile but it makes me laugh so I decided to share with you.  I hope you enjoy it too.

And because this is a special day, here is his formal Gotcha Day portrait that we took the week before.

Next up let’s visit the very talented Sharon Stokes Photography, Central Coast, Australia to see her interpretation of the theme.

Thank you all for your nice comments :)

Tracy Sutherland - April 12, 2013 - 12:21 pm

Okay, the first photo made me laugh but the second photo made me say “Oh, wow…” Out loud. I’m not usually a flare junky but it works so well here.

Sue - April 12, 2013 - 7:06 am

That first shot is priceless! LOL! Great catch. Happy gotcha day, Buddy! :o )

Alison - April 12, 2013 - 6:59 am

That first one is amazing – looks like he is some sort of monster dog pulling a tank in a very strange war. And his Happy Gotcha day portrait is lovely!

Darci - April 12, 2013 - 6:56 am

What a great idea using the reflector! I love this!!! Beautiful sky too!

Alicia Kapheim - April 12, 2013 - 6:32 am

Super shots! Good idea on the reflector and love the formal shot!

Kathryn Schauer - April 12, 2013 - 4:38 am

I love both shots! Great job!

Happy Gotcha Day Buddy! Love the flare in his formal photo.
